Welcome to the Monster Mash: Our Story

Hey there, fellow fiends and fright fanatics! Pull up a tombstone, grab your favorite comfort creature, and let me tell you a bit about how this whole asylum came to be.

My horror story starts way up north, in the frosty expanse of Alaska. Long before streaming services and curated algorithms, there was a sacred ritual. Me and my brave (or foolish) friends would make the pilgrimage to Blockbuster. We weren't there for the new releases everyone was talking about; oh no. We were on a treasure hunt, judging VHS tapes solely by their lurid, outrageous cover art. The cheesier, the gorier, the more monstrous – the better! We’d haul our stack home, pop some corn, and dive headfirst into a glorious, often ridiculous, 80s horror marathon. We just wanted to enjoy the ride, and boy, did we!

Blockbuster may have faded into the mists of time, but my love for horror? That beast is immortal! I devour all horror, from silent scares to modern slashers, but I've always been a sucker for anything with a cool monster. If it's got claws, fangs, tentacles, or an unnameable, amorphous form, I'm there.

The moment that truly sealed my fate? I was just a kid when I snuck into the theater to see John Carpenter's "The Thing" on opening day. That experience didn't just scare me; it warped my young mind in the best possible way. I was forever changed, and a lifelong monster devotee was born.

Fast forward a few decades, and here we are. I wanted to create a place – a crypt, if you will – where we can all geek out over horror games, unearth hidden gem movies (and re-watch the classics!), and genuinely connect with other horror fans. This is just the start, but my ambition is for this community to grow faster than The Blob!

Now, for a little plot twist in my own life story: I recently made a massive leap, moving from the weird and wonderful Austin, TX, all the way to the vibrant chaos of Bangkok, Thailand! The dream was big, the adventure exciting... until the job I had lined up here pulled a vanishing act right before I started. So, yup, I'm currently unemployed in a foreign country.

This site, this community, it's more than just a passion project now. It's a lifeline, a labor of love that I'm hoping can also help me stay alive (or at least undead!) while I navigate these uncharted, spooky waters.
